The World Just Got a Lot Smaller for Black Men

Media brands leverage globalization to bolster the voices of black men.

The life of the black man is not unique to a block, city, or state, instead his values, ideas and innate altruism are similar across nations, and unfortunately, however, so is his persecution.

With energy and rigor—the same amount exuded by the black man when he builds commerce, community and culture—the world everyday attempts to depict the black male body as something to fear, instead of something worth acknowledging and safeguarding for the purpose of knowledge transfers.

The black man is wealthy not because of his monetary riches, but due to the accumulation of stories that recall circumstance, confusion, criminalization and celebration. The experiences of the black man represent a multiplicity of existences in a world that perceive him invisible.

What makes the black man stand out and be recognized – both good and bad – is his voice. But what’s a black man to do when his voice isn’t amplified in a way that’s meaningful and impactful to the world at large? He could yell louder and be labeled “angry,” or he could talk in harmony, with one voice, and deliver the same message as his inspired brothers: we’re assets, we’re of value and our lives matter.

I choose both options, but the latter provided the best results. Years after being labeled “an angry man,” I’m now “an all-star millennial”who’s proud to announce an expanded partnership with The Dr. Vibe Show to produce Black and Bold Voices™, an online, quarterly conversation that’ll feature black men from around the world and the issues that unite them.

BABV Epi 1 Flyer

The first episode on Saturday, September 27th, 2014, from 1-2pm EST—hosted by Dr. Vibe and powered by Techbook Online—will feature global thought-leader Gregory Walker, Creative Director, The Brothers Network, and B.O.L.D members Joshua Rivers and Richard Taylor, both award-winning authors.

Thanks to globalization and the foresight of a number of black corporate executives, the life of the black man just got a lot smaller, as his world views, experiences, stories and ideas will be heard, acknowledged and shared worldwide.

The life of the black man is not limited to a block, city or state, so neither should his stories. Stories from the black man have the power to transform us all as people, so we should listen we he speaks and reverence his voice.

Thanks for reading. Until next time, I’m Flood the Drummer® & I’m Drumming for JUSTICE!™
